Book Review [Summary]
1. On the May 13th 1940 – Three days after the Natzi’s invaded France, the newly appointed Prime Minister Winston Churchill needed to address the British people and give them hope when all seemed hopeless –
- He chose to centre his message around ONE WORD – A word that would fuel and motivate his people in a long battle against the Natzi’s
- THAT ONE WORD BEING: VICTORY – Victory at all costs
2. Winston Churchill Quote: “All great things are simple and many can be expressed in a single word”
- Your ONE WORD is what you stand for >> See videos above or Watch Video [https://youtu.be/25ht5njkmOM]
- Your core value to make important decisions
- It’s what you need to build something great – Be it yourself or your business
- Two Reasons for your ONE WORD:
-
- Steady source of motivation
- Makes it easy for people to talk about you
- At times you may feel demotivated and in a dip, as you are not getting the results you expected or no longer getting encouragement – What pulls you through needs to be strong and motivating – Your ONE WORD – Why do you do what you do?
- Gives you reason for your struggle – It needs to be short and to the point, ONE WORD, so it’s easy to remember when times get tough
4. Evan Carmichael’s ONE WORD: “Believe” –
- He created a number of sentences for his business mission, but they didn’t strongly enforce his motive, so he came up with ONE WORD – “BELIEVE”
5. ONE WORD: Makes it easy for people to talk about you –
- There is a lot of noise out there, so make it as easy as possible for people to remember you
- Steve Jobs’ Quote: “We have to be really clear on what we want (people) to know about us”
- When you stand for something important, something people can connect with and something people are proud to be apart of, you make it easy for them to share
- Apple’s ONE WORD: “Elegance”
6. Answer questions in these three areas to help find your ONE WORD?
- Favourite things?…
- What are my favourite books and what do they have in common?
- What are my favourite movies and what do they have in common?
- Personality traits?…
- Of the people I enjoy being around, what personality traits do they have in common?
- Of the people I dread being around (drain your energy), what personality traits do they have in common and what is the opposite of that?
- Constants?…
- What interest(s) have been in my life for as long as I can remember?
NB: Brainstorm and write these answers down in a notebook (Journal) and ask yourself what words do my answers have in common and what ONE WORD brings these words together? – Sleep on it if you need to…
